g-g-good to b-be h-h-home...

Remember these days? Bundled up to your eyebrows and still your nose freezes shut the second you step outside the front door?

I was reminded of them when I visited my family last weekend in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Two of the days it got down to -8 to -12 for the temperature, with wind chills up to -30. Yes, for my Florida friends, those are negative numbers!

But God was gracious and the heavy snow went further south so I didn't have to drive through any bad weather on the trip between MN and WI. For those of you who haven't heard, it was an F150--my first time driving a truck! The driving part was actually fine. Not so much for parking. But it was all the rental place had at the time, and the 4x4 came in handy after Rich parked it on a snowbank for me :) By the end, all I cared about was that it had an excellent heater!

I had a wonderful time visiting my friends and family though (safely indoors), and meeting my adorable new nephew Ian. There's nothing quite as soft and beautiful to cuddle with, as a little baby! When I first met him, his eyes never left my face, as if trying to figure out and memorize who this new giant in his life was--and I was happy to recriprocate the stare. I'm so thankful for this precious addition to our family!
